Case Study: Meeting EU Refinery Air Pollution Objectives

Improving air quality is becomingly increasingly important and the role of the EU Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directives is a major factor in EU refinery operations. PDC was awarded a contract by the European Commission Directorate General Environment in 2003 to carry out an investigation into how the more than 100 refineries in Europe were meeting the IPPC Directives.

The project was completed in 2004 and was published by the EU on its website and is attached (see box on the right).
