Software

PDC has a comprehensive set of software packages that allow it to tackle the most complex development planning projects. The software that PDC uses is as follows:

Petrel – this is the leading geophysical and geological tool from Schlumberger. It won the World Oil 2006 award for Best Data Visualization Solution. The software was originally developed in Norway.

ECLIPSE - ECLIPSE Blackoil is a fully implicit, three-phase, three-dimensional, general purpose black oil simulator and includes versatile well, group and economic controls, and automated drilling and workflow features. It is the most popular reservoir simulation package in the world and it was originally developed in the UK.

IMEX - CMG's full featured Black Oil simulator models the flow of three phase fluids in gas, gas-water, oil-water, and oil-water-gas reservoirs. It models in one, two, or three dimensions, including complex heterogeneous faulted structures

IPM - The IPM suite of tools: GAP, PROSPER, MBAL, PVTP, REVEAL and RESOLVE can be run together seamlessly, allowing the engineer to design complete field models. The models can include the reservoir tanks, all the wells and the surface gathering system. It can model and optimise the production and the water or gas injection system simultaneously. The software was developed and supported in the UK.

Pipecalc – Pipeline calculations are carried out using Pipecalc which uses industry standard correlations to model pipework systems.

Crystal Ball – Crystal Ball is a Monte Carlo based simulator which can be used to generate a range of oil and gas recovery estimates on a probability basis.

Microsoft Project – PDC is a very active user of Project and this is used on most of our projects.
